How Does the Library Browser Extension Integrate with Wikipedia?

How to install Lean Library, the Library browser extension, aka

  • Lean Library (LL)
  • Library Assistant

If you have already installed LL

  • you have a small, grey or blue-green circle on your browser tool bar.
  • on some pages, like Wikipedia, there is a small blue WIS button on the right.  to offer context-relevant information for the page or site

Answer

WIS Works, the Library research repository, integrates with Wikipedia.

When viewing a page for a Weizmann researcher (example), clicking the LL button > Integration > Weizmann Researcher Publications highlights the researcher's name on the page and creates a direct link to their publications list in WIS Works.  WIS Works also includes a link to the researcher's website.

The Weizmann button is available on other Wikipedia pages, but this is the only feature currently activated.  There are plans to expand and add additional Library services via Wikipedia.

With the help of LL, we have more new features on the way, such as

  • better article requesting integration (when you just can't find that specific article...)
  • more point-of-need services and integrations - embedding page-specific FAQs on web pages about which we receive a lot of questions, for example, https://www.ithenticate.com/

If you are willing to test this new feature and give feedback, that could help us continue to improve our services.
