Link an ORCID to Pure for Ongoing Update of Publications (Pure > ORCID)
How can get Pure to send all my publications to my ORCID account and keep it updated automatically?
Answer
Preparation
Your ORCID should be updated in your personal details in HR-One.
The Library staff will create a Pure user account for you and associate that account with your Pure publications (your profile). Your Pure username will be the same as your Weizmann username. The Pure account email will be your Weizmann email.
After you receive an email from Pure containing your new username and password, you can proceed with the following steps. The email subject is "Welcome to Pure at Weizmann Institute of Science", it comes from "purehosted@atira.dk", and looks like this:

Authorize Pure-ORCID Sync
Important:
- This action requires the explicit permission of the ORCID account owner -- the Library cannot give permission in your name
- To complete this process, you must know your ORCID username and password
- The Library is available to help with the following steps
[1] Log in to Pure.
[2] You should be on the Personal tab. If not, click the 3rd tab from the left (Personal) in the top menu (highlighted in blue below).

[3] Below your ORCID number, you should see: Authorise export of content to ORCID (visible in the above image). Click that link and this message will appear:

[4] Click the blue Proceed button, and the ORCID login screen will open
[5] Log in to ORCID
[6] The next screen asks you to authorize Pure to share information with ORCID. Click Authorize, and you are done.
Within a day or so, your ORCID account will be updated to include all your publications, as listed in Pure. Each publication displays the information source as "Source: Weizmann Institute of Science" -- only these records come from Pure
If you do not see your publications after 1 day, please contact the Library.
[7] In ORCID > click on your name (top right) > Account settings > and review your "Trusted Organizations" to confirm that only Weizmann can add or update your research publications
All other publication sources should be read-only
The goal is to ensure that your ORCID list will only contain publications that you want to appear (not, for example, abstracts)
[8] To complete the hand-off of control to the Weizmann Research Publications Database, you should now delete all the publications currently listed in ORCID, allowing the Weizmann system to update and maintain the one-and-only copy in your list
Ongoing Publication Updates
- If you opened an ORCID account before 2013, all your information will be automatically "private" and hidden by default. You will need to change the setting.
- The Library can only help with ORCID if it is the only information source writing to your account.
