What is an embargo period?

Answer

An embargo period is a period of time after an article has been published and before early versions of the article can be made available as Open Access.

Publishers that permit pre-print, post-print, or published versions of the article to be deposited in a scientific or Institutional Repository may require an embargo period for one or more of the versions.

Consult the publisher web site or the Sherpa/Romeo Publisher Copyright Policies & Self-Archiving web site to find a specific journal or publisher's embargo period.
