Springer and BioMed Central (BMC) APC Discount for Fully Open Access Titles

Answer

A 15% discount is available to Weizmann corresponding authors in BioMedCentral and Springer fully open access journals.

Included:

Excluded from this agreement:

  • Nature Journals -Hybrid and Open access (owned by Springer) -- https://www.nature.com/siteindex
  • Springer's hybrid journals
Please note: We also have a different agreement for the Hybrid journals via our consortium, that fully covers the APC. For more info click here.
  • BioMedCentral hybrid journals!
  • Embo Press Journals

Exceptions:

Please note that the Springer-Nature site gives misleading information which can easily make you believe that the Weizmann Library will pay your open access publishing (APC) charges.  That is wrong.  The correct information appears above.

"If your institution has an open access agreement with Springer Nature, you may publish your article open access at no cost or in some cases with the costs partially fundedCheck your eligibility and the journals that are included in your institutional agreement."

The pink text is just misleading.  The green text is best practice -- check your institutional agreement with the Library at the time of all article submissions.

How Does This Work?

  • Weizmann has a deposit account and the Library receives notification of accepted articles
  • The author should submit from the IP ranges of Weizmann or use Weizmann email or indicate his/her affiliation manually.
  • Corresponding authors are notified of their options as soon as the Library receives notification
  • APC charges must be paid for fully-open-access journals.
