Q. How to use the SmartLocker at the Central Library

The SmartLocker allows Library patrons to pick up reserved items and return Library books outside of Library staff working hours.




The SmartLocker is located at the Central Library @ Weitz Building, just inside the main entrance.  If a Librarian’s assistance is needed, please visit during Library staff hours.


Collect Your Item/s from the SmartLocker

[1] Tap the “collect items” icon

[2] Scan your staff/student card (the card reader is located on the left side of the black opening below the screen)

On the next screen you can see how many books you currently have on loan

[3] Tap the “open all” button

At this stage, the relevant locker/s will open

[4] Collect your item/s and close the locker/s

[5] If you would like a receipt, tap “yes”. The receipt will be printed at the back of the black opening below the screen

Once you complete this process, the item/s is officially loaned to you

Return Your Item/s via the SmartLocker

[1] Tap the “return” icon

[2] The return bin, highlighted by a white light, will release on the right, so you can place the item/s in the opening

[3] You can tap Finish -- if not, the bin will lock by itself after a short delay

The item/s is returned, but it is not yet removed from your Library record.  Library staff will collect the book/s during working hours and complete the return process to remove the item from your record.
